What are Coloring Journals?

We’re encouraged to ponder the scriptures, meditate on them, and take them to heart. But when I sit down to read, I often find myself quickly skimming a chapter or two, setting my scriptures aside to reflect—and then getting distracted by the endless little things I need to do.

I started to wonder: what can I do to help myself keep pondering what I’ve read? Those quiet moments, where I can focus and just think, usually come when I’m coloring.

And so, the Coloring Journal was born. It’s a blend of scriptures to ponder and coloring pages to keep you grounded while you reflect. I hope these journals bring you the same clarity and calm they’ve brought to me.

Themes

Each journal has a specific theme to reflect on with each scripture passage. Many of the journals currently available focus on themes related to the seasons of the year, while others are centered around Christ-like attributes, gospel topics, and personal growth themes designed for life’s meaningful moments.

Passages

Each day has a selected passage of scripture connected to the theme. These passages are chosen to inspire meaningful reflection and guide you through the journal’s focus. As you read, you’ll find new insights and reminders of faith, all tied back to the purpose of the theme.

Prompts

The scripture passages are accompanied by prompts to guide your thoughts as you begin to ponder what you’ve read. But if you’re thoughts ultimately take you away from the prompt, feel free to write what is most meaningful to you. No one is going to check, I promise.

Coloring Pages

It wouldn’t be a coloring journal without something to color. The coloring page highlights a powerful statement from the scripture, giving you a moment to pause and focus on its meaning. As you color, you’ll find yourself naturally reflecting on the words, letting them sink deeper as you bring them to life.
